A-Star Sports joins the StartUp Britain bus tour to support new entrepreneurs

StartUp Britain is a national campaign by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, harnessing the expertise and passion of Britain’s leading businesspeople to celebrate, inspire and accelerate enterprise in the UK.

The campaign was founded by eight entrepreneurs and launched on 28th March 2011 by the Prime Minister, with the full support of the Chancellor and HM Government, although it is completely funded by private-sector sponsors (AXA, Dell, Intel, Intuit, Magento Go and PayPal).

The StartUp Britain bus tour is an influential part of this national campaign with the aim of inspiring and supporting young people who are interested in starting their own business.

Travelling the length and breadth of the UK visiting 40 universities and further education colleges, gives students the opportunity to network with and learn from business advisors and successful entrepreneurs, which will help alleviate the fear factor of going it alone.

The StartUp Britain tour bus came to Liverpool on Thursday 1st November 2012 and A-Star Sports co-founder Sharon Bassett was there amongst other entrepreneurs and business advisors to meet the budding new talent amongst Liverpool College’s students.

Sharon said: “It was a truly amazing day and wonderful to hear of the creativity and planning that young people from a wide range of backgrounds are putting into new business ideas. From an online casino-style business and computer gaming through to health and beauty, hairdressing, fashion and retail, catering, joinery, construction and accountancy, it was a busy and positive day. Key questions were really varied, such as the basics of business registration and funding, trademarking and intellectual property issues, business premises, business planning and costings, marketing strategies and even the ins and outs of confidentiality agreements, but they were all pertinent issues for the relevant businesses. It was a real pleasure to be part of the tour.”
