In our weekly award-winning multi-sports classes, small class sizes provide encouragement and support for your child to build the confidence, motivation and skills to enjoy sport in a number of ways. Successful learning opens up new ideas for longer term engagement in:
- Individual sports activities
- Games and sports with a partner
- Playing in teams
These practical and fun learning experiences provide the foundation for your child to develop physically, socially and emotionally through the positive challenges and enjoyment of being active in this way.
Level 1 – Red Star Award
For children turning 3 within the academic year. This is a 30-40 minute class initially but gradually increases to one hour.
Level 2 – Yellow Star Award
For children turning 4 within the academic year – 1 hour class.
In the first two levels your child is introduced to a wide range of exciting skills and games that not only develop agility, balance and co-ordination but a wider sense of confidence, achievement and enthusiasm to try new things.
Level 3 – Green Star Award
For children turning 5 within the academic year – 1 hour class
Level 3 positively builds on the challenge of the two previous levels to bring multi-skills to the fore and introduce the basics of each of our core sports. Children learn to safely handle sport-specific equipment for fun-filled games.
Level 4 – Blue Star Award
For children turning 6 within the academic year – 1 hour class
Level 5 – Bronze & Silver Star Awards
For children turning 7 within the academic year – 1 hour class
At Levels 4 and 5 children are beginning to handle sport-specific equipment more confidently and fluently and developing team-based skills for mini matches with core rules and strategies for safe play.
Level 6+ – Gold & A-Star Awards
For children turning 8+ within the academic year – 1 hour class
At Level 6 and beyond, the emphasis is on developing your child’s knowledge and skills range within each sport. With our fun and inclusive approach, children often stay with us for many years to reach the end of the programme.
Sport in the news
As part of the A-Star Sports programme your child will also participate in themed activities that mirror sport on the world stage. Your child will be introduced to the exciting events that keep us sporty grown-ups gripped! For example:
- Football World Cup
- Rugby World Cup
- Tennis Open Championships
- International Test Cricket
- Athletics
- Olympics
- Paralympics
- Ryder Cup Golf
Participation in a broader range of activities opens up new opportunities for your child to consider for the future whilst encouraging them not to specialise too early. Fitness, fun and the fundamentals of movement and sport are far more important at this stage.
Sporting rewards
From stickers in our younger classes through to the weekly trophy later in the programme, children are rewarded for good sportsmanship and etiquette. By showing enthusiasm, motivation, openness to new ideas, responsible participation, effective contribution and team spirit, your child will also receive Certificates of Achievement at each level. This positive recognition helps to develop confidence, determination, supportive relationships and a lasting commitment to sporting activity. And all in the name of fun!
“A-Star Sports is a fantastic club for kids. It gives them an introduction to a huge variety of sports, and coaches them to develop their skills. It encourages kids to work together, and the fact it is done with huge enthusiasm from the coaches makes it an enjoyable experience for all.”

Weekly class fees
For details of weekly class fees, your local franchise can be contacted directly. There is no membership fee when joining an A-Star Sports class.
A-Star Sports classes run throughout the school year and your child can join a class at any point (subject to available places). Small class sizes allow us to consider your child’s needs and provide the necessary support for successful learning and heaps of fun.
Practical things
For our energy-packed pace, we would always advise children to put their ‘fast shoes’ on (trainers, pumps or shoes that don’t fall off easily when you run) and dress for some mega multi-sports action. With that in mind, please do bring a drink along, too – having so much fun can be thirsty work!
