New A-Star Sports franchise opens in Northwich, Knutsford & Runcorn

PRESS RELEASE

Another ambitious young sports coach at A-Star Sports has taken the ultimate step and signed up for a franchise.

Kyle Taylor, 24, who has worked in the sports industry for four years and has been developing and coaching children with A-Star Sports since 2011, is taking charge of the Northwich, Knutsford and Runcorn territory.

He is the latest A-Star Sports employee to seize the chance of owning his own business. Last year, young Scot Callum Pettigrew switched from coaching to being in charge at the thriving franchise of East and West Dunbartonshire.

Kyle is now living his dream not only of pursuing his passion for sport as a full-time career but also bringing top quality, multi-sports coaching for young children across Cheshire.

Kyle, who worked in retail before taking up sport as a vocation, said: “Sport was my favourite subject throughout school. It had a positive impact on my health, well-being and confidence.

“It was only when I reached my twenties and found myself working in what was for me an uninspiring role in retail that I began to seriously look at turning my spare time hobby into a career.”

Kyle said that a friend of the family introduced him to Gary and Sharon Bassett, two of the co-founders of A-Star Sports. He began to take part in some structured multi-sports classes, saw how rewarding it is to work with children and was offered a coaching post.

He said: “Becoming a franchisee is the most logical step for me. I’ve seen first-hand how successful A-Star Sports franchises can be and the positive progression towards being a business owner and a creator of local jobs is a challenge that really inspires me.”

He said that, despite the current economic climate, business is good. The Chester team, of which he currently is part and which will continue to be his franchise neighbour, has more than 60 weekly classes, 12 weeks of holiday clubs and more than 250 parties every year.

He said: “Families have expressed a high level of interest in my new area, are supporting me in sourcing a growing number of venues and I’ve already delivered dozens of parties there. I really believe that parents will always invest in high quality activities for their children.”

A-Star Sports is designed to make sport fun and accessible for children, and its peer-reviewed programme includes weekly classes, parties and holiday club places, as well as regular sessions in nurseries, playgroups and pre-schools, which are attracting thousands of attendees per week.

A-Star Sports franchisees are offered a full training package to get them started and ongoing coaching- and business-orientated support, including help with finance, marketing, general management, health and safety, HR and the benefit of a regularly reviewed coaching programme.
