LOCAL A-STAR SPORTS CLASSES SHORTLISTED FOR TOP NATIONAL AWARD
A-Star Sports pre-school classes in Dundee & Angus are among Britain’s best after being nominated for a top national award.
The A-Star Sports classes, run by local dad Steven Cairney, are in the running to scoop the top prize from the UK’s biggest parenting site Netmums.com.
The classes, which run at a number of venues in the local area, see families enjoying fun-filled multi-sports activities for children of pre-school age up to 10 years. They benefit from inclusive, developmental multi-sports coaching in a positive environment that begins with an initial ABC-based programme (agility, balance and co-ordination) and develops into a core of ten sports – basketball, cricket, dodgeball, football, handball, hockey, rounders, rugby, tennis and volleyball. The programme also includes activities inspired by sport in the news for children to discover sports over and above this core ten. In addition to weekly classes, A-Star Sports also offers birthday parties, holiday clubs and events.
Now Steven will go through to the final national vote with winners announced on 21st June 2012.
Steven is urging local parents to vote for his classes and put A-Star Sports, Dundee & Angus, kids classes on the map.
He said: “Parents tell me our classes are the highlight of their child’s week, so it’s so exciting to be recognised in this way. I’d love for us to win the award and show we really are something special.”
Last year over a million mums cast their votes as part of the awards. Voting is open until 17th June 2012, simply go to the East Scotland section of Netmums.com and vote.
Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “All the evidence shows that fun pre-school activities help kids blossom and give parents fun time, too. That’s why we wanted to celebrate all they have to offer with these awards.
“Local mums and dads will be delighted to know Dundee & Angus has some of the best classes in the country.”
